Microfibre Cloth not Your T-Shirt

We know the temptation to just clean your glasses on whatever top you are wearing, however this has a negative effect on your glasses. Most material (unlike microfibre) will scratch away at the delicate surface of glasses lenses and with the frequencythat this is done you can quickly wear away a pair of glasses that have no doubt cost you a good deal of money, but also damaging the protective coating that they give your eyes.

Most people do not realise just how often they wipe their glasses by using their clothes nor do they realise just how hard they are wiping. So as we say ‘resist the tempatation’ save your glasses and save your money by using a microfibre cloth fromCalotherm.

Glasses - Keeping The Lens Clean

Before discussing how to clean your glasses, we should look at a few basic tips on keeping the lens from getting dirty. Dust and dirt on your lenses can hinder your vision and possibly scratch your lens if you aren’t careful, so you want to keep your glasses as clean as possible.

When you are taking your glasses on and off, hold them carefully with both hands at the temples about midway down the sides. Don’t grab them by the lenses, as this will get grease and oil on them. Grabbing them with both hands will also protect the adjustment to make sure your glasses fit properly. When you aren’t wearing your glasses, make sure to keep them in their protective case. This will prevent dust and dirt from getting on them, and will also protect them from being damaged by being accidentally sat on. (Having sat on my own glasses a couple of times, this is something you would rather not have happen). I have two separate cases, so I keep a spare in my car in case I want to take them off or I lose my other case (hopefully not with my glasses in them!)

CLEANING CARE -  Lens Cleaning

Before cleaning your lenses you are going to want to make sure that you have a proper cloth. I know the temptation to just wipe them on your t-shirt is strong, but using worn clothing can damage the lens and you don’t want this to happen. You’ll want to find the softest, most non-abrasive cloth you can find. This’ll make sure you don’t accidentally damage your glasses while you are trying to take care of them. I find that the Calotherm Microfibre cleaning cloths (Calocloth) are the best available. Keep a Calocloth with you wherever you go so you won’t have to resort to the wiping them on your shirt routine if they get dirty during the day and you want to give them a wipe. Alternativly Calotherm sell wet wipes to clean you lenses with. These are single use wipes that can be kept in wallets, pockets or handbags and are an excellent alternative to Calocloth.

Glasses - Simple and Easy Protection

You’ll want to clean your glasses once or twice a day, depending on how often you wear them. When you’re not wearing them or in the process of cleaning them, you’ll want to make sure that they are stored properly in their protective case. This will keep them from dust, dirt and damage, and make sure you always have sparkling clean glasses waiting for you. Taking care of your glasses doesn’t have to be a pain, just make sure you always put them away and keep them clean once or twice a day.
